For me, there are basically three kinds of poker players: the real pros, the non-pro who is famous (often because he/she is a Hollywood celeb), and the serious players but do not belong to the first two. Well, chances are, you and myself belong to the last category, so I'll just be talking about the first two classes.
One player who belongs to the non-pro who is famous is Drew Barrymore. She appeared in a gambling movie sometime back, and she got interested in learning poker. She was in the midst of the world's strongest poker players, such as Jennifer Harman, Brunson, Chris Ferguson and the most-loved (ah-em) Matusow, and it's safe to assume this was one reason she was enticed by the game.
Now, we go to one of the true pros, the "fewest of the few", or the topmost part, if all classifications of poker players would be considered as parts of one integrated triangle. I am speaking of Erik Seidel, this is one guy who loved backgammon first before he embraced poker.
At present, he owns six
WSOP braclets, and he is on the top ten 'All time' Money List of the Bellagio AND the WSOP. One impressive trait of this guy is that he is very cool at the tables, and that is not all, as far as his wins/achievements are concerned, he is quite humble. That ladies and gentlemen, is a refreshing thing to see from the cadre of strongest poker players in this generation.
